Passive mental mediumship
In Passive Mental Mediumship, the medium allows the deceased to merge their consciousness with that of the medium. The purpose of this is to give the deceased a certain degree of control over the medium and their abilities as a living person. However, the medium will never lose consciousness and will always retain final control over their own body.
Mediums can relinquish control to the spirit world for a number of reasons, namely performing healings, talking, writing, painting, and the production of physical phenomena (see physical mediumship).
Trance healing
This form of mediumship enables the spirit world to direct healing energy through the medium to one or more persons or other living organisms that cannot be obtained through consciousness in the normal way. The relationship between the medium and the working spirit has a direct and decisive effect on the quality and effectiveness of the healing energy.
Trance speaking
Speaking or allowing a spirit to speak through the medium while in a trance grants access to an inexhaustible source of universal knowledge and inspiration. Over the past 150 years, an enormous amount of philosophy, inspiration, and encouragement has been received from those who love us in the spirit world and wish us a beautiful, rich, and spiritual life.
Automatic writing
Even though the writing is controlled (through trance) by the spirit, we speak here of automatic writing. The spirit writer checks the writing, sometimes even in their own handwriting, or in mirror image. It is even possible that the medium writes with two hands simultaneously, in mirror image, guided by two spirits.
Trance painting
Painting in a trance state is equivalent to automatic writing, where the hands are controlled by the spirit. The end result can be very spectacular, with images in the style of the great master being produced at an exceptionally rapid pace.
